Leading with Data, Creativity, and Heart

We cannot effectively respond to what we do not first examine. I am not afraid of data—numbers are not judgments; they are indicators. They show us where we’re making progress and where we’re called to lean in with greater creativity and innovation.

One area where I’ve seen measurable success is in reducing behavior incident referrals by using MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) not just as an intervention model, but as a leadership framework—a lens to study and strengthen the full school ecosystem.

This includes:

  • Academic systems (course access, instructional practices, and master scheduling)

  • Students’ social-emotional wellness

  • Schoolwide behavior expectations and positive culture building

When we apply creativity, intentionality, and innovation in these three domains, students thrive. The results speak for themselves: increased attendance, a significant drop in behavior referrals, and improved academic outcomes.

It’s not just about managing data—it’s about using it to unlock the potential of every learner in our community.
